So, I haven't been on my blog in a while, but I haven't been playing a lot of games recently. Now I am starting to play more games. I had just finished my post on Amazing Spider-Man, (if you haven't read it then I suggest you do), anyway, I had just saw a post about making a post of the top villains recommended by a very special person in my life. So, I thought I should make two posts today. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy Holidays! Now for the post. All of these are in my opinion the top villains so far.
10. Reapers- I picked the Reapers because they are always in the background doing something devastating to the universe of Mass Effect. Their presence is always felt throughout the entire game. I think that to be a good villain you must be ever present in the world (universe, in this case)
9. Zeus- In the God of War franchise Zeus was always the one in the background. His presence was always known and I remember that I wanted to finish Zeus off. Not because he had done wrong by the character Kratos but because throughout the game it was felt that Zeus was the one behind everything. (Spoilers)
Nothing better than a Dad and Half-Son fighting.
8. Dracula- Before the Castlevania reboot (See: Castlevania; Lords of Shadow) the villain of the franchise was mostly Dracula. Something about Dracula in this franchise that made the hero, usually a Belmont until Castlevania Symphony of the Night, it made me want to finish the game and beat Dracula as the ultimate evil.
7. Liquid Ocelot- In the Metal Gear Solid series, this was one of the most epic fights I have had in all of games. In Metal Gear Solid 4 you have to fight your brother/Ocelot, in an epic fight that plays all the music of Metal Gear Solid franchise. It was one of the most amazing games and Liquid Ocelot was always the one that Snake was chasing. His prominence and presence in this game was always clear, but not just in this game but also other games.
6. Albert Wesker- Resident Evil has had Albert Wesker in their franchise for such a long time. He was always the one pulling the strings in the background and his presence was definitely felt. I remember when I played Resident Evil 5 I had this vision of the game finally ending. For the franchise to finally end with Wesker's death (It didn't) but I still feel that RE5 should have ended the Resident Evil Franchise.
5. Heavy rain killer- This game was made epic by the search for the killer. I had wanted to kill the villain ever since the dad (Ethan) loses his child. There was nothing I wouldn't do to have the killer receive justice. I did literally go to hell to find out who the killer is and bring him to justice. Even though the killer is never really known till near the end. It was the chilling presence with origami, that always had his finger prints all over the game.
4. Xenahort- In the Kingdom Hearts franchise it was always Xenahort in the background. He was always the villain in some way shape or form. This makes him a great villain because of how he was. Now, I don't know all of the story of this franchise as I have not played most of it, just 1 and 2. But, he was a great villain. He didn't do so much evil, didn't kill a loved one. The reason he's on this list is because I felt like I wanted to beat him. Just because of his evil presence.
3. The Joker- Batman has only really had one villain. This is because Joker is one of the most influential villains in not just games, but comics as well. Some of his acts (Like crippling a Bat-girl at home) is one of the most deadly, and dangerous villains. Of course, in the game he was also very evil. Some of the things he would do in the game made me want to bring him to justice. That I believe is a mark of a epic villain. One that causes the player to want to beat him. Some games don't have villains like this.
2. Shodan- Now I have not played this game much but I do know that Shodan from the System Shock series has been one of the most evil and psychotic villains in all of games. No list should be without her. Even if the franchise has turned to Bioshock, it still is missing a great villain. Shodan was that. The way she insults you and makes you run through hoops for her in System Shock 2 is just amazing. A lot of games have lost the art of the villain. This series did not. (Hoping it gets revived one day)
1. Sephiroth- Enough said...Okay, I will explain my reasoning for having him be number 1 on my list. Sephiroth had presence. Sephiroth had evil acts. Sephiroth was evil to the core. Sephiroth kills Aerith one of the most pure and innocent in all of games. This caused me to want revenge in a video game more than any other. No other game except maybe Heavy Rain has caused this in me. Even in Heavy Rain I did not want revenge like I did in FF7. When he killed Aerith I think that it made me want to finish the game to just give Sephiroth justice. No game has ever done that like Sephiroth. I hope developers realize that a strong good hero character is great. But a villain is epic.
I hope everyone enjoys the holidays. I promise all of you that whenever I become a developer I will always have a villain like the ones on this list. You have to hate the villain. You have to want to have revenge. You have to build a story for the villain and always have him be the focal point of why the hero wants to beat him. Because where there is good, there will always be evil.
Amazing Spider-Man Review
What do I have to say about this game. It was a game that was very fun to play, wasn't as monotonous as some of the other recent Spider-man games. I wish Beenox could have gotten some of the voice actors from the recent Amazing Spider-man movie. Overall, it was a good game. I thought most of the characters had the right voice substitutes aside from a couple. The voice acting was sometimes bland and uninspiring but it didn't really deter from the actual game.
Story followed the movie with cross species through out the entire game. It is set up after the movie ended. Lizard/Dr Connors is in prison and helps set up the game rather well. Not sure if in Spider-man lore there actually was villains named "Piranha" or not, but it got a bit old after a while, having to fight villains with a cross-species dynamic.
Graphics were a lot better than I had thought. It was fun to swing around. I think it would have been better to have the web swinging have a push button mechanic, because just holding it was bad. I did feel the graphics could have been better with the environment. Overall though the graphics were fine especially the character textures, was better than I thought. I really felt like I was web swinging which in a Spider-Man game is important.
Story-3/5
Graphics-3/5
Audio- 3/5
gameplay- 4/5
replayability- 4/5
Overall grade- Average to good game. (Even though the ratings are lower it really was fun)

Mass Effect 2 and the State of Games
So, I had finally beaten this game about a couple weeks ago. All I can say that it was one of the best current RPG's that I have ever played. I still think that most games lack a real villain nowadays. Yes, I know that the Reapers are the main villains but they are more behind the scenes villains.
Most games nowadays have no true villain but representations of villains. What I mean by this is behind the scenes. Let's look at some current and past games. Bioshock, although he is with you through pretty much the entire scene and his presence is known it just clearly is not a villain that you want to hate or want to go kill. It is more of a means to an end. Dead Space is the same as it is more of a horror game that has no true villain. Lots of other games come to mind as well.
What I want to say is where is Sephiroth, where is Shodan, where is a true villain that you either want to beat at the end or absolutely hate until the end. That is what I believe is lacking in games nowadays. There are annoying bosses, yes but they aren't the same hate that you would give to Sephiroth or Lavos (Chrono Trigger!).
My hope is that one day game developers will realize that they need to have a true villain. Some of those classic games had a true villain and one that you couldn't wait to face off against. Even Vergil was considered one of these villains because my fights as Dante with him in the original Devil May Cry were just epic fights. Mundus as main villain really didn't have the same appeal as fighting Vergil.
Back to Mass Effect 2, it's a great game even without a true villain. I would rank it above a couple of games. But not some of the classics that really had true villains.

Sorry
Again, I must apologize that I haven't been keeping up with the blog recently. I have had a lot of stress from school and now I am free again. I am hoping to beat more games and keep all of you appraised. I will continue to review games, as I will as well continue to make progress on my on future, and my endeavors.
First, I'd like to say that E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo) was not all that amazing as I was hyped for it to be. I was seriously hoping something new would show up at the Sony Conference. Beyond: Two Souls looks interesting as I am hoping a lot of you actually liked that game.
Second, I have ideas running through my head on how to accomplish certain goals that I have set for myself. I am hoping to continue these goals and continue to strive for perfection in life, love, entertainment, etc.
Finally, I am going to be playing more and more games now that I am free. So, I hope I can make more and more reviews soon. Thank you all for reading, as always, keep gaming.

Dead Space Reveiw (Late)
I know this is a little more than a lot late. But, I was finally able to beat Dead Space. Sometimes an overabundance of games is a bad thing. But, I digress. I beat this a couple of days ago and thought I should review the game. Even though it's an older game.
Here's the the things I liked about the game.
Gameplay- The Gameplay was fun. Shooting of limbs instead of heads (even though I shot my fair of them) was entertaining. Way different than your standard zombie game. I also really like the way that Zero-G played throughout the game. It was fun going back and forth and have the AI doing the same thing. It was refreshing. I like the mini-games, shooting gallery, and zero-g basketball. Some of the more fun mini-games I've played in a long time. The AI was intelligent as well. When going out into space I have to admit I jumped a couple of times since I could only really here my character breathing. The waypoint guide was also a neat addition that I liked as well.
Graphics- The graphics were some of the best during that time. I remember walking out and seeing the vastness of space just taking it all in. It was a very unique experience. Even though you are in a shape mostly throughout the entire game. I did see myself staring at space a couple of times. The monsters (Necromorphs) in the game were really great, I liked the design of most of them. Some of them were really creepy while others looked like a variation of zombies. Which I wasn't too thrilled about.
Story- I have to admit that I watched the Dead Space anime and looked through some of the comics. I believe I got more of the story from both of these mediums than I got from the actual game. Most of the game through 9 or 10 chapters was just trying to leave the ship or help the other crew members from your team. I thought it didn't really get into the story till the very end. Where you learned what the mark was and how it got there. This I hope is changed in the second one. Cause although it was a fun game it didn't have the story that really made me want to play it.
Fun/Replay-ability- This game was fun! One of the more fun games I've played in a while. Even the mini-games were fun. I think that everything altogether made this game a pretty decent game and I look forward to playing the second one. The replay-ability of this game is okay, if you want the platinum trophy. Other than that though I don't think it's a game that will go back to. Not a knock on it but it really doesn't have anything to go and play again.
Presentation- The presentation in this game was some of the best I've seen. That includes the audio, graphics, gameplay mechanics, and all of that. I thought the game had some creepy or spooky moments. The minimal HUD system was a good thing for this game. I enjoyed how the game presented itself. It was a survival horror game, even though you could buy ammo and guns. It still had the presentation of a survival horror game as I jumped in a couple of places. Especially when going outside the ship. Those parts were really well done.
Audio- The audio parts in this game, the music, the feel, all exemplified the horror theme. Turning off all audio when going outside (except for your breathing) was a gameplay mechanic that I adored. The whole atmosphere was great in this game. A lot of that had to do with the audio or lack thereof throughout the entire game.
Gameplay- 10/10
Graphics- 8/10 (only because there were prettier games)
Story- 6/10
Fun/Replay-ability- 6/10
Presentation/Audio- 10/10
Final overall Score- 40/50 A game that deserves a look.
